Investment History The technology platform being developed by Vesta was originally pursued by Renaissance Cell Technologies, Inc. In March of 2000, Incara Pharmaceuticals Corporation fully acquired Renaissance. Based on the decision to focus its efforts on its antioxidant drugs, Incara Pharmaceuticals sold the technology to Vesta Therapeutics, a company funded by Toucan Capital, in October of 2002. Toucan Capital (www.toucancapital.com) is a leading investor in early-and development-stage companies focused on regenerative medicine. Another Toucan Capital portfolio company, Cognate Therapeutics, Inc., is available to provide support with scientists and managers experienced in cell-therapy product intellectual property, clinical development and GMP manufacturing. |
